Russia Encircled by #NATO - Are We Heading To WAR?

"It is really not all that hard to figure out " - V. Putin, 2014
As NATO Pushes Russia, How Long Before An All Out War Erupts?

Alex Dvorkin

I continue to scratch my head while trying to figure out exactly what the US and NATO are trying to do as they push Russia into a corner. While the Western Media outlets would lead you to believe the situation in Ukraine is getting better, the overall picture remains troubling as the US Military Industrial complex seeks out an outright conflict. Russia considers NATO buildup near its borders as demonstration of hostility – deputy FM

NATO Expansion 1990 Vs 2009“Do Finland want to start World War III,” asks the Russian President’s personal envoy Sergei Markov ahead of Lavrov´s visit to Turku.

At least in this case I do not believe this has anything to do with “Russian Propaganda” as the map above speaks for itself. Add a few more years and a few countries to the blue map above and you have Russia nearly encircled. This would be equivalent to having a massive Russian military buildup in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, the Atlantic and the Pacific. Does Russia pose a threat? I don’t believe so and I don’t see it.

Some Things Have An Odor...

Doc's Comments

There is little doubt the risks of engagement increase as we pass Peak Oil globally and other raw material shortages are felt. Human history is simply repeating itself, as expected.

Noam Chomsky believes we are starting to see the unwinding of the Hegemony as a new world order transpires. Within five years the US dollar will no longer be the global reserve currency. That will devastate the Western economies as they will no longer be able to buy oil and lots of other stuff with paper IOU s. In other words they will no longer get things for FREE!

You knew that game could not last forever, so it should not come as a surprise to anyone, particularly Russia and China.

Chomsky Gets IT!

Humanity's Question: To be, Or not to be?

WHETHER IT IS NOBLER IN THE MIND?

(Special Report)

THAT IS THE QUESTION...

Today we are republishing a  commentary that was posted back in January 2013. The post is even more relevant today, as the critical issues we face as a species are escalating almost it seems beyond control. Reports are also being made by various LEGITIMATE groups including NASA, UN bodies and the White House and Pentagon. These reports are posted through-out our affiliated blogs and may be searched by keyword . Moreover, let's not forget too, that Stephen Hawkings sits on a committee that is actually planning "end of world events", while The Bank of England  is calling for a wholesale change in the dogmas of classical economics - as the stresses of infinite growth are self-evident in so many countries around the world.

As a further result, the possibility that the EUJapan, China and other third world nations could financially collapse is a very real danger that could be sparked by an abrupt climb in global interest rates. Many events at any moment could spark this rapid rise, that would cause the greatest and most unprecedented collapse in asset values around the world where credit and banking bubbles in real estate and market investments, exist almost everywhere - another dark age looms large on the horizon.

Economics is not the only cancer that has terminal implications. Overpopulation and unbridled industrial destruction of the biosphere are crossing over to the exponential phase. Should the average global temperature rise just a mere 2 degrees C., some experts say we risk triggering a methane bomb that yields the same consequences of the Permian Extinction's climate conditions  - over 95%  of life on the planet was wiped out in short order.

More #Climate Floods Shock Balkans - Thousands Flee!

Thousands flee, 25 die in record Balkan floods

By JOVANA GEC and ALMIR ALIC, with additional reporting by Aida Cerkez and Sabina Niksic from Sarajevo, Bosnia; Irena Knezevic in Banja Luka, Bosnia; and Marko Drobnjakovic in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia

MAGLAJ, Bosnia (AP) – Packed into buses, boats and helicopters, carrying nothing but a handful of belongings, tens of thousands fled their homes Saturday in Bosnia and Serbia, seeking to escape the worst flooding in a century.

Record flooding in the Balkans leaves at least 20 people dead in Serbia and Bosnia and is forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes. Three months' worth of rain has fallen on the region in just three days, and meteorologists say the flooding is the worst since records began 120 years ago. Three months' worth of rain has fallen on the region in just three days, creating floods that meteorologists say are the worst since records began 120 years ago.
Observed from the air, almost a third of Bosnia, mostly its northeast corner, resembled a huge muddy lake, with houses, roads and rail lines submerged under water. Admir Malagic, a spokesman for Bosnia's Security Ministry, said about a million people, or over a quarter of the country's population, live in the affected area.

APTOPIX Serbia FloodsSurging water reached up to the second floors of homes at times, sweeping away traffic lights and signs as it coursed through villages and towns in the two neighboring countries. Roads were blocked and metal bridges crumbled at the onslaught.

In the eastern Bosnian town of Bijeljina, some 10,000 people were being evacuated Saturday after the rain-swollen Sava River pushed through flood defenses.

"We need everything, we are underwater," mayor Mico Micic said as he appealed for help.

By Chris Samoray

(Mongabay.com) – Every year, 20 million tons of plastic enters the world’s oceans. In 2012, the Rio +20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development dubbed marine plastic litter “a major environmental issue that the world must address,” and asked for management action by 2025. One group of researchers started early and was among the first to take on the Rio +20 call to tackle marine plastic pollution, presenting a “Top Ten” list of recommendations ranging from international treaties to public education and awareness programs.

“Plastic marine litter is far more than an aesthetic problem,” writes the team from the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability in a study published in UCLA’s Pritzker Environmental Law and Policy Briefs [pdf]. “Increasing harm to marine wildlife and rising economic costs provide an enormous incentive to tackle the global plastic marine litter problem more aggressively.”

New Breed of Fish?
The team suggests that international cooperation is among the most urgent action needed to better control marine plastic waste. One of their recommendations is an international treaty on par with the 1989 Montreal Protocol—an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer—that would employ strong monitoring, tracking and reporting practices, along with marine litter standards enforceable on a global scale.

IPCC: Climate Report Maps Out Human Fate?

Human security will be progressively threatened as the climate changes. Human insecurity almost never has single causes, but instead emerges from the interaction of multiple factors. Climate change is an important factor in threats to human security through (i) undermining livelihoods, (ii) compromising culture and identity, (iii) increasing migration that people would rather have avoided, and (iv) challenging the ability of states to provide the conditions necessary for human security. More and More Truths...

30 March 2014 (IPCC) – The Final Draft Report, dated 28 October 2013, of the Working Group II contribution to the IPCC Fifth Assessment ReportClimate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability was
accepted but not approved in detail by the 10th Session of Working Group II and the 38th Session of the IPCC on 29 March 2014 in Yokohama, Japan. It consists of the full scientific and technical assessment undertaken by Working Group II.
The Final Draft Report has to be read in conjunction with the document entitled “Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability. Working Group II Contribution to the IPCC 5th Assessment Report — Changes to the Underlying Scientific/Technical Assessment” to ensure consistency with the approved Summary for Policymakers (IPCC-XXXVIII/DOC.4) presented to the Panel at its 38th Session. This document lists the changes necessary to ensure consistency between the full Report and the Summary for Policymakers, which was approved line-by-line by Working Group II and accepted by the Panel at the above-mentioned Sessions. A listing of substantive edits additionally indicates corrections of errors for the Final Draft Report.

ASSESSING AND MANAGING THE RISKS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Human interference with the climate system is occurring, and climate change poses risks for human and natural systems (Figure SPM.1). The assessment of impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability in the Working Group II contribution to the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report (WGII AR5) evaluates how patterns of risks and potential benefits are shifting due to climate change.
It considers how impacts and risks related to climate change can be reduced and managed through adaptation and mitigation. The report assesses needs, options, opportunities, constraints, resilience, limits, and other aspects associated with adaptation.

The same old song... with the same meaning

For fun - no holds barred today. But these guys at the IPCC must think that we are all really stupid. They present a graph with a bunch of circles, add some pretty colours and words. Then presto! All our problems are defined and thus somehow possibly within their control or ability to fix. Now should we all walk away with the comfort and knowledge that these folks have humanity's fate well in hand? Sorry, but nothing could be further from the truth..

Why? Because the now world -famous Kinesa Climate Change Curve (KCCC)  looks extremely different in comparison. First, draw a  straight 12 inch vertical line from the left to the right side of a page. Call it lapsed time

Then draw a horizontal line somewhere along the vertical line. Call it climate order. Remember too, that the vertical line continues on and on for miles and miles at both ends. There you go - your very own  KCCC graph with a very different story.

What do you  mean it doesn't curve? Actually it does,  if you look close enough!

Japan's PM Sends #Fukushima SOS

Japan's PM Sends
Fukushima SOS

My country needs your knowledge and expertise”

(Al Jazeera America)
Read More Here

Almost daily the reactor at Fukushima faces new leaks of radioactive water as tanks overflow and spill their refuse into nearby seas. Over a month ago Japan had stated to the 2020 Olympic Committee, that the situation was under control. Not so, as reflected by their Prime Minister's recent call for international assistance. Japan's problems are also flowing over into the nuclear industry, that just had two multi-billion dollar projects more or less cancelled in a Canadian province.

It seems that the media is also playing down the consequences on the local fishing industry because local Sushi restaurants are in a business as usual mode. At this point it is hard to determine what the final outcomes will be until the situation is put to rest and some time has lapsed to allow for a damage assessment. There is little doubt its affects are far-reaching and may still have an impact on the larger economy as energy costs are certain to rise over time.

Crippling the world's third largest economy is sure to have spreading global effects that may ultimately cause havoc in the global financial markets too. Therefore, it is self-evident why such a hush-hush environment exists around disclosure, events and media.

Meaning that we are going to continue monitoring developments as they are reported. Events here could dramatically change too many things, particularly when there is little evidence that they are contained or may even becoming worse?

What's UP with Inflation?

What's UP with Inflation?

There is little doubt that the debate about how to calculate inflation will rage forever - and governments will always manipulate this calculation - and economists and bond markets seem to put the faith of the universe in this completely subjective and arbitrary number's calculation. Why? It is politically convenient - and as long as everyone believes it is the truth; perceptions are then realities, regardless.

So for the most part, we are cynical about this number but do our own calculations based on hard and soft commodity prices (ex-gold,) - because these are the driving inputs of the global economic machine and the numbers are less affected by political allocations and influences. It also ignores the value-added and services included in the CPI, as these items will be less relevant as resource scarcities take hold down the road.Without inputs, there are no outputs - that simple.

In the end, no method is without flaws, but it makes a whole a lot of sense to first, do your own rough calculations and to secondly, calculate the inflation numbers for economic inputs and as well as traditional outputs (CPI),  if you want to minimize the chances of being blind-sided by the Bond market.

One other secret -  preform these calculations based on geo-political regions and include population growth and hard and soft commodity reserves. Then the picture becomes a whole lot clearer. Then you can say to me the next time we meet...

What's up Doc?
