Poor People Are Really Getting... POOR!

'Record gap' between rich and poor

Paris (AFP) - The gap between the rich and poor in most of the world's advanced economies is at record levels, according to an OECD study that also found glaring differences between men and women.
In most of the 34 countries in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development the income gap is at its highest level in three decades, with the richest 10 percent of the population earning 9.6 times the income of the poorest 10 percent.
In the 1980s this ratio stood at 7 to 1, the OECD said in a report.
The wealth gap is even larger, with the top 1 percent owning 18 percent and the 40 percent only 3 percent of household wealth in 2012. Read More.

Worst Drought Ever Alters #Yosemite National Park

Drought Alters Familiar Landscape In Yosemite National Park

"Where's the waterfall?"

Hikers walk along the muddy banks of Mirror Lake on March 19, 2015 in Yosemite National Park, Calif. Tenaya Creek feeds Mirror Lake, whose banks have receded months earlier than usual, the remaining water reflects bare rock that is usually covered in snow this time of year. (Robert Gauthier/Los Angeles Times/TNS)

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — Yosemite National Park is bracing for its driest year on record, with visitor bureaus downplaying the allure of the park's most famous waterfall and instead touting the park as a destination for hiking, bicycling and photography.Yosemite Falls will probably go dry in June — two months earlier than usual, parks officials say. The Merced River, which powers the spectacular Nevada and Vernal falls before meandering across the Yosemite Valley floor, will probably slow to a shallow stream about the same time.
And with the drought enabling western pine bark beetles to kill large areas of forest, the park is preparing for a bad fire season."Visitors bureaus are saying they're not going to promote Yosemite Falls as much this year," said Scott Gediman, assistant superintendent for public and legislative affairs at the park. "My response: No problem. We have to be realistic." Read more

Russia Encircled by #NATO - Are We Heading To WAR?

"It is really not all that hard to figure out " - V. Putin, 2014
As NATO Pushes Russia, How Long Before An All Out War Erupts?

Alex Dvorkin

I continue to scratch my head while trying to figure out exactly what the US and NATO are trying to do as they push Russia into a corner. While the Western Media outlets would lead you to believe the situation in Ukraine is getting better, the overall picture remains troubling as the US Military Industrial complex seeks out an outright conflict. Russia considers NATO buildup near its borders as demonstration of hostility – deputy FM

NATO Expansion 1990 Vs 2009“Do Finland want to start World War III,” asks the Russian President’s personal envoy Sergei Markov ahead of Lavrov´s visit to Turku.

At least in this case I do not believe this has anything to do with “Russian Propaganda” as the map above speaks for itself. Add a few more years and a few countries to the blue map above and you have Russia nearly encircled. This would be equivalent to having a massive Russian military buildup in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, the Atlantic and the Pacific. Does Russia pose a threat? I don’t believe so and I don’t see it.

Some Things Have An Odor...

Doc's Comments

There is little doubt the risks of engagement increase as we pass Peak Oil globally and other raw material shortages are felt. Human history is simply repeating itself, as expected.

Noam Chomsky believes we are starting to see the unwinding of the Hegemony as a new world order transpires. Within five years the US dollar will no longer be the global reserve currency. That will devastate the Western economies as they will no longer be able to buy oil and lots of other stuff with paper IOU s. In other words they will no longer get things for FREE!

You knew that game could not last forever, so it should not come as a surprise to anyone, particularly Russia and China.

Chomsky Gets IT!

SPECIAL REPORT: "The #American Dream, Destitution, Despair - #DETROIT"

This article written by Frosty Wooldridge regarding the demise and plight of the once mighty American city we fondly  refer to and recall as Motown or Motor City ,the symbol of  the nation's industrial strength , should break your heart. Because it breaks all of ours, as we yearn for those times when it was so much more. For many it was "My Girl" a song that gave us sunshine on a cloudy day, or in a cold month of May.

So I guess you'd say; what could make me feel this way...?

The Tragedy of Detroit, Michigan, Immigration and the Great Society

Description: Description: cid:CC0FB9A43B8By Frosty Wooldridge

(Frosty Wooldridge is a US journalist, Michigan State University graduate, writer, environmentalist, and six continent world traveler, often referred to as a Paul Revere - A Hero For Our Times)

http://pwa2000.blogspot.ca/p/all-abot.html

For 15 years, from the mid 1970's to 1990, I worked in Detroit, Michigan . I watched it descend into the abyss of crime, debauchery, gun play, drugs, school truancy, car-jacking, gangs and human depravity. I watched entire city blocks burned out. I witnessed graffiti explode on buildings, cars, trucks, buses and school yards.Trash everywhere!
Description: cid:2.3451956344@web161208.m
Detroiters walked through it, tossed more into it and ignored it. Tens of thousands, and then hundreds of thousands today exist on federal welfare, free housing and food stamps.
With Aid to Dependent Children, minority women birthed eight to 10, and in one case, one woman birthed 24 children as reported by the Detroit FreePress—all on American taxpayer dollars.
Description: cid:3.3451956344@web161208
A new child meant a car payment, new television and whatever mom wanted. I saw Lyndon Baines Johnson's “Great Society” flourish in Detroit . If you give money for doing nothing, you will get more hands out taking money for doing nothing
Mayor Coleman Young, perhaps the most corrupt mayor in America , outside of Richard Daley in Chicago, rode Detroit down to its knees... He set the benchmark for cronyism, incompetence and arrogance. As a black man, he said, "I am the MFIC." The IC meant "in charge".  You can fill in the MF for yourself.  Detroit became a majority black city with 67 percent African-Americans.  In 2013, Detroit features nearly a 90 percent minority-majority population.
Description: cid:4.3451956344@web161208.m
As a United Van Lines truck driver for my summer job from teaching math and science, I loaded hundreds of American families into my van for a new life in another city or state.
Detroit plummeted from 1.8 million citizens to 700,000 today. At the same time, legal and illegal immigrants converged on the city, so much so, that Muslims number over 300,000. Mexicans number 300,000throughout Michigan, but many work in Detroit . As the whites moved out, theMuslims moved in.  Welfare became a way of life.
Description: cid:5.3451956344@web161208.m
As the crimes became more violent, the whites fled. Finally, unlawful Mexicans moved in at a torrid pace. Detroit suffered so much shoplifting that grocery stores no longer operate in many inner city locations. You could cut the racial tension in the air with a knife! Detroit may be one of our best examples of multiculturalism: pure dislike and total separation from America.
Today, you hear Muslim calls to worship over the city like a new American Baghdad with hundreds of Islamic mosques in Michigan, paid for by Saudi Arabia oil money. High school flunk-out rates reached 76 percent last June, according to NBC's Brian Williams. Classrooms resemble more foreign countries than America. English? Few speak it! The city features a 50percent illiteracy rate and growing.
Description: cid:6.3451956344@web161208.m
Unemployment hit 28.9 percent in 2009 as the auto industry vacated the city. In Time Magazine's October 4, 2009, "The Tragedy of Detroit: How a great city fell, and how it can rise again," I choked on the writer's description of what happened. "If Detroit had been ravaged by a hurricane, and submerged by a ravenous flood, we'd know a lot more about it," said Time reporter Daniel Okrent. "If drought and carelessness had spread brush fires across the city, we'd see it on the evening news every night. Earthquake, tornadoes, you name it, if natural disaster had devastated the city that was once the living proof of American prosperity, the rest of the country might take notice.
Description: cid:7.3451956344@web161208.m
“But Detroit, once our fourth largest city, now 11th and slipping rapidly, has had no such luck. Its disaster has long been a slow unwinding that seemed to remove it from the rest of the country. Even the death rattle that in the past year emanated from its signature industry brought more attention to the auto executives than to the people of the city, who had for so long been victimized by their dreadful decision making."
Description: cid:8.3451956344@web161208.m
As Coleman Young's corruption brought the city to its knees, no amount of federal dollars could save the incredible payoffs, kickbacks and illegality permeating his administration. I witnessed the city's death from the seat of my 18-wheeler tractor trailer because I moved people out of every sector of decaying Detroit .
"By any quantifiable standard, the city is on life support. Detroit 's treasury is $300 million short of the funds needed to provide the barest municipal services," Okrent said. "The school system, which six years ago was compelled by the teachers' union to reject a philanthropist's offer of $200 million to build 15 small, independent charter high schools, is in receivership. The murder rate is soaring, and 7 out of 10 remain unsolved. Three years after Katrina devastated New Orleans , unemployment in that city hit a peak of 11%. In Detroit today, the unemployment rate is 28.9%. That's worth spelling out: twenty-eight point nine percent.
Description: cid:9.3451956344@web161208.m
At the end of Okrent's report, he promised to write more about Detroit, "That's because the story of Detroit is not simply one of a great city's collapse, it's also about the erosion of the industries that helped build the country we know today. The ultimate fate of Detroit will reveal much about the character ofAmerica in the 21st century.  If what was once the most prosperous manufacturing city in the nation has been brought to its knees, what does that say about our recent past? And if it can't find a way to get up, what does that say about America’s future?"
Description: cid:10.3451956344@web161208.
As you read in my book review of Chris Steiner's book,"$20 Per Gallon", the auto industry won't come back. Immigration will keep pouring more and moreuneducated and unskilled third world immigrants from the Middle East into Detroit, thus creating a beachhead for Islamic hegemony in America . If 50 percent illiteracy continues, we will see more homegrown terrorists spawned out  of the Muslim ghettos of Detroit . Illiteracy plus Islam equals walking human bombs.
Description: cid:11.3451956344@web161208.
You have already seen it in Madrid , Spain , London , England and Paris , France with train bombings, subway bombings and riots. As their numbers grow, so will their power to enact their barbaric Sharia Law that negates republican forms of government, first amendment rights, and subjugates women to the lowest rungs on the human ladder. We will see more honor killings by upset husbands, fathers and brothers that demand subjugation by their daughters, sisters and wives. Muslims prefer beheadings of women to scare the hell out of any other members of their sect from straying. Multiculturalism: a perfect method to kill our language, culture, country and way of life.
Description: cid:12.3451956344@web161208.

If you think Mexicans and Muslims will eventually fit right into America, you have another reality check coming. One look at the constant violence and segregation in Los Angeles portends a sobering future for all Americans.  Chicago suffers endless minority gun killings.  “Black flash mobs” in major cities run around looking for white Americans to beat up and kill.  Detroit features honor killings, female genital mutilation, arranged marriages and violence toward gays by Muslims.  Those accelerating situations represent only symptoms of what the future holds for Americans in most cities dominated by endless immigration.  Detroit, Michigan presents us with a peek into our future as a multicultural morass.
Description: cid:13.3451956344@web161208."Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -- Benjamin Franklin

Impossible to Conserve Nature As Is, Thanks to Climate Change

A U.S. government-backed guide for land managers says global warming requires a fundamental shift in conservation

(Scientific American) – When President Theodore Roosevelt visited the Grand Canyon in 1903, he famously admonished the attending crowd to avoid meddling with the landscape. "Leave it as it is. You cannot improve on it," he said.

True to Roosevelt's message, America's conservationists have since focused on maintaining the status quo, or at least restoring ecosystems to their natural state.

But due to the growing impacts of climate change, this can no longer continue, according to a new guide for land managers backed by multiple state and federal agencies.

"Addressing the growing threats brought about or accentuated by rapid climate change requires a fundamental shift in the practice of natural resource management in conservation," states the document, released yesterday by the National Wildlife Federation in partnership with the National Park Service, U.S. EPA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Geological Survey and several other federal agencies and nongovernmental organizations.

"While managers traditionally have looked to the past for inspiration, increasingly we will be faced with future conditions that may have no historical analogs," it states.

The guide is intended to demystify climate adaptation for habitat and wildlife managers. It provides a step-by-step process evaluating how ecosystems may be vulnerable to climate change and how conservation goals might be altered for the best possible outcome.

Gotham's Gas Pipeline Mess Exploding???

What's So Amusing?

Beneath Cities, a Decaying Tangle of Gas Pipes

The New York Times: – It is a danger hidden beneath the streets of New York City, unseen and rarely noticed: 6,302 miles of pipes transporting natural gas.

Leaks, like the one that is believed to have led to the explosion that killed eight people in East Harlem this month, are startlingly common, numbering in the thousands every year, federal records show.

Consolidated Edison, whose pipes supplied the two buildings levelled by the explosion, had the highest rate of leaks in the country among natural gas operators whose networks totalled at least 100 miles, according to a New York Times analysis of records collected by the federal Department of Transportation for 2012, the most recent year data was available.

The chief culprit, according to experts, is the perilous state of New York City’s underground network, one of the oldest in the country and a glaring example of America’s crumbling infrastructure.

In 2012 alone, Con Edison and National Grid, the other distributor of natural gas in the city, reported 9,906 leaks in their combined systems, which serve the city and Westchester County. More than half of them were considered hazardous because of the dangers they posed to people or property, federal records show. (There are more than 1.2 million miles of gas main pipes across the country. Last year, gas distributors nationwide reported an average of 12 leaks per 100 miles of those pipes.)
